Egham Youth Band (EYB) was formed in January 2016 following the promotion of the Band's existing Training Band that was formed in September of 2010. The Band currently consists of over 20 talented young players ranging from ages 9 to 16. EYB draws players from a wide area encompassing North Surrey, East Berkshire and West Middlesex. The band is very fortunate to have had players joining on a wide range of instruments and are therefore able to play a variety of music scored for brass band, ranging from music by The Beatles to film scores. EYB make many local appearances throughout the year under MD James Begg.
Rehearsals Date & Time: Monday 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Conductor: James Begg
Support: During band rehearsals, support is provided by members of the senior band either playing alongside the band or providing assistance and support throughout. We are also very fortunate to have Royal Holloway Brass Band just up the road; we benefit from support from some of their members.
The band welcomes new players on all instruments. Currently, we are looking for additional lower brass players. Any new players must have had a basic amount of tuition as all training is done as a band. All new members need to be able to read music, know basic fingering/slide positions as a minimum, and be at Grade 3 or equivalent standard.
